Guess what?! Some stuff changed on the website today. I've been meaning to make some changes to the logo and website, but I'd been waiting until I had it all completely figured out before I implemented the updates. Well, I screwed something up while playing around with it, so I figured I would try out some of the changes while I was fixing those screw ups.
Please note the following changes:
-The background is now white!
-Most of the text is now sans-serif!
-The paragraph titles are now a cool scripty font!
-Updated logo! I may actually change it again, I'm still considering what to do with it
(And I'm waiting for my friend Joseph to give me his professional opinion on it)
Changes to come:
-Monthly (or bi-weekly) website banners and sales
-Newsletters for both retail and wholesale subscribers
-An integrated calendar? (I have one on facebook) to show events and sales
(I don't know how to do this yet...)
-More art! :)
Also note, most of the website changes and computer stuff I get done while at a coffee shop in Ybor called The Bunker, which makes a lot of good stuff, although I usually get iced coffee. Today I switched it up and got a chai latte. Anyway, so the time frame for these updates is semi-dependent on how often I am there (2-3 times a week, on average). I get A LOT of stuff done there, for some reason it's easier for me to concentrate on computer stuff while I'm not in the studio or at home.
Today was the kind of day where I planned to be doing one thing but ended up doing something completely different. Well, hopefully I will find more time and more inspiration to paint in the next few days. Right now I do have enough time and energy for cutting out fish to add to a painting I've been working on for a while. I like putting them on top of different patterns and seeing what it looks like.
One of the freelance graphic design jobs I have is kind of far, and I like to stop in Ybor City on the way home to avoid traffic. Usually I sit in a coffee shop and get some work done during this time, but I've been trying to explore a little too. One of the more exciting things I've discovered in my explorations is a herd (gaggle? bunch?) of chickens just kind of free roaming. Nice looking chickens and roosters, not scraggly ones.
The first time, I just saw three, but yesterday there was a whole lot of them. I tried to take some pictures with my phone, but they didn't let me too close. I really like chickens, and I don't know why I haven't made any chicken paintings yet, but this is going to change.
I have some questions about these chickens:
Who owns them?
Why are they allowed to just run around?
Are they getting eaten?
Are they just for show?
How come no one in Ybor seems to care?
I don't want to be too critical of the chickens, because I like seeing them, but I am also worried for their safety. I hope they don't get hit by a car.
Right now Bertha with a Cat is available as a print. Not sure if I will ever part with the original, but if you absolutely have to have it, shoot me an email or give me a call.
Today is a special day! That’s because today is the day I am starting my daily blogging. I only have been writing on here EXTREMELY intermittently, but that is about to change.
What will I be blogging?
Why will I be blogging?
Why am I starting today?
Because I am sick of saying I am starting tomorrow!
