Mermaid Bay Mercantile has a variety of wares, many of them made locally around Tampa Bay. There is also an overarching nautical theme so if you love mermaids and whales and fish (or need a present for someone who does) this is a really great place to get it. But that's not all they have. There's a bunch of preserved goods (like those from Sunshine Canning, Patty's Peppers, and Watson Kitchen, to name a few), funky enamel pins, awesome salts, great cards and art (my cards, prints, stickers and mirrors can be found here), tea towels (like those from Miss Johnny Squirrel), candles, plants (such as O'Berry's Succulents), jewelry (including some by Caramia Visick of Hotcakes Design!), and chocolate.
Speaking of chocolate... as part of tonight's Gulfport Art & Gallery Walk, Mermaid Bay Mercantile is having Pinellas Chocolate Company for their Meet the Maker Series. Find out all about how it's made, and have samples of this super yummy chocolate! More details on Mermaid Bay's facebook page.
This week's Friday Feature is Mermaid Bay Mercantile! You can find Mermaid Bay at 3107 Gulf Blvd (the main street of this charming little town), just a stone's throw away from the historic Gulfport Casino. Mermaid Bay is run by the wonderful and hilarious Andrea Farnum, who I always love visiting. She can tell you about any of the great handcrafted products and art in her store and about the makers behind these things. She tells great stories, too! Her staff and her husband are extremely sweet and likeable as well. Yay for nice people!
