I'm having a tough time describing all that goes on there, so I'm going to pull a blurb from their site,
"The Disco Dolls Studio is located in the Seminole Heights neighborhood of Tampa, FL. There is a salon on one side, and a working fashion and art production studio on the other. Kristine works with independent hair stylist, Nikki Rice in the salon space, and Leigh Anne, Beth, and Kristine collaborate in the fashion and art studio. The boutique features unique, hand crafted pieces created on site, as well as, other brands that embody the same sensibilities. Currently stocking Keune, Verb, 18.21, and Uberliss professional haircare products. In the boutique, you can also find, Royal Suzie Jewelry, John Fluevog Shoes, Tipsy Candles, Wild Rose Herbs, Rita Wall Jewelry, UNCOMMON THRDS, Pergamo Paper Goods, and Angel Face Botanicals."
Essentially, it's three women partners expressing their art in different ways in one space: Kristine with hair, Leigh Anne with fashion, and Beth with painting. And it all works! It's a joy to be there; there are so many things to look at and enjoy. I first came upon The Disco Dolls during a Seminole Heights First Friday event. I had seen a preview of Beth's new paintings and had to see them in person. They were so beautiful I ended up taking one of them home with me! It's a slightly shy bird (an ibis I think?) with it's head down but it's eye looking at you... her name is Silvia. I love her.
The Disco Dolls participates in (and now organizes!) Seminole Heights First Fridays, which is the first Friday of every month. Several Seminole Heights businesses participate by having art up and free drinks. It's a little party, and is so fun. The Disco Dolls possibly has the best drinks, and it's usually Beth's art which is a treat. This month they are featuring jewelry artist Rita Wall. Rita provides all the awesome vintage jewelry in the store (including all those cute animal pins!) but will be displaying some of her own handmade jewelry. I got a little peek at it already and can't wait to go back and chat with her about it.

I was inspired to have The Disco Dolls as this week's Friday feature as I had the pleasure of popping in there this morning. It was just a quick visit to drop off some cards and a whole load of prints, but it definitely got my day moving in the right direction! I love this place... and I'm going back tonight for First Friday!
